Discover Portland: A Weekly Adventure

Last week we asked our instagram community a few questions. We had so many people asking us to share the answers, so as promised, our (YOUR!) Portland Round Up.

We moved here from London 16 years ago this summer. Portland has evolved and changed (as have we all) but what continues to make Portland so great is all the amazing small businesses we have here and of course, the amazing outdoors!

Thank you to all who answered - so many missed but this is what we got in 24 hours so think of it a a snapshot, there is always more!

Enjoy, Sarah xx

So what did we do in a week? SO MUCH!

My friends (who I have know since I was 12!) flew over from England for a week, sans kids, and we really did have the best time.

Friday (our busiest day, no kid day!):

Brunch at Proud Mary, record shopping after at Passenger Seat Records (behind Proud Mary), walked over to Cascada Spa where we chilled hard for 3 hours. Great place to get over their jet lag and have a proper catch up!

After, nails at Savannah in NW 21st (love them).

Got ready to head out for the evening and went to see a great art show at Industry One events - they host events every month (worth checking out!) it was so fun and packed.

Walked down to Fancy Baby (new bar in the Pearl), after drinks and snacks got a taxi to the east side and tried to go dancing at GoodFoot - did not bring our ID (they are so strict) so got a massive pizza instead from Babydoll and headed home. Excellent day 1!!

Saturday, Family Day:

Breakfast at Cornell Farm (as so close to us and we need to pick up some plants for our house too, win/win).

Portland Downtown Farmers Market - have not been for ages - so fun. Free Kittens (yes really - did not get one though) and all the amazing baked good and flowers bought.

Walked into town and took the girls shopping at Frances May and Woonwinkel (and YO of course).

Afternoon hike (one hour loop and kid friendly) at Hoyt Arboretum - great way to get into the forest and show off the amazing trees.

Later: Take out at home from Paadee (that crispy chicken SO GOOD) Netflix and chill.

Sunday:

Wine Tasting!

Headed to wine country (1 hour drive) SO many amazing spots out here so do your research. First stop Sokol Blosser. Red Hills Market for lunch then Stoller after - Stoller is very kid friendly (huge tire swing) and lots of space to run around.

Monday-Tuesday:

Drove out of Portland for an overnight - no kids! I have done this exact trip with my kids last year and our extended family from England and it's always SO fun. We were going to go to Society Hotel at Bingen as that is always a favourite but my friends wanted to tick off a mountain trip so we headed to Sisters via Mount Hood.

First stop is always Joes Donuts in Sandy. After - the alpine slide at SkiBowl in Mount Hood (lol).

Lunch and exploring at Timberline Lodge (The Shining was filmed here) and then drove to our destination - Suttle Lodge.

We love it here (and so did they). Great lake swimming, paddle boarding, live music in the summer, amazing hikes, food is 10/10 and we LOVED our short but perfect stay. We booked all of the above very last minute.

Wednesday:

Last day. They headed to Portland Art Museum whilst I went back to work boo! Flight home back to London Thursday, back to reality for all. See you next summer though Kirsti and Gemma?! xx
