Assistant Store Manager

The Yo Store is an independent lifestyle boutique in Northwest Portland, thoughtfully curating women's, kids', home, gifts, and lifestyle brands from around the world. As we prepare for an exciting period of growth, we're looking for an experienced, passionate Assistant Store Manager to help lead our team and create an exceptional customer experience every day.

About the Role

Working closely with our Store Manager, you'll play a key role in the daily operation of the store while helping inspire the team, maintain exceptional customer service, and ensure the shop is beautifully presented every day.

We're looking for someone who is proactive, positive, highly organized, and genuinely loves independent retail.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager with all aspects of daily store operations.
• Lead the team by example while providing coaching, guidance, and support.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and build lasting customer relationships.
• Open and close the store independently.
• Help recruit, onboard, and train new team members.
• Assist with staff scheduling and day-to-day team communication.
• Maintain beautiful visual merchandising and high store standards.
• Receive, process, and merchandise new inventory.
• Help manage inventory accuracy and stock replenishment.
• Support back-of-house organization and stockroom maintenance.
• Assist with e-commerce fulfillment and customer orders as needed.
• Support in-store events, community partnerships, and seasonal launches.
• Help drive sales while creating an inspiring shopping experience.
• Ensure the store remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
  

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has:

• A minimum of 1 year of retail leadership experience (Assistant Store Manager, Key Holder, Shift Lead, Team Lead, or similar).
• At least 1 year of customer-facing retail experience.
• Outstanding customer service skills and a genuine love of working with people.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• A great eye for merchandising and presentation.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Confidence working independently and making decisions.
• The ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
• A positive, solution-oriented attitude.
• The ability to lift and move boxes up to 50 lbs.

Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Must be available to work one weekend day each week.
• Flexibility during holidays and busy retail seasons is required.
• Blackout dates during peak retail season

Compensation & Benefits

• $25.00 per hour
• 50% employer-paid medical insurance
• 80 hours (10 days) of paid time off (PTO) annually
• Paid holidays: Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day
